RELEASE INFORMATION:

– Japanese mini cards.

– Each card measure approximately 5 cm (width) x 6.7 cm (height) + -0.05 cm variance, which was the standard size for Japanese mini cards.

– Box contained 50 packs with 1 card per pack. Packs were made of a thick paper stapled shut rather than sealed like a traditional trading card pack.

– Each box also contained 3 “Winner Cards.” There was usually a total of 6 different “Winner Cards.” “Winner Cards” were random base cards containing a gold foil stamp on the back, which signified an individual had won 1 of 4 trading card albums released with the set. 3 of 4 trading card albums also came in the box. Like other cards, “Winner Cards” were packaged in their own thick paper envelope and in a separate plastic bag.

– 40 card set was issued at the end of 1974 to promote the wrestlers of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) promotion. NJPW was founded in 1972 by Antonio Inoki and by 1974 there were numerous foreign wrestlers wrestling for NJPW. In this set is an early card of Andre the Giant. There are also numerous cards of Antonio Inoki throughout this set.

– Variations of cards have been found with different colored backgrounds. Colors include [BLUE], [GREEN], [NATURAL], & [PINK]. Natural is the common background color.

– Information provided by the book, Guide to 1970s and 1980s Japanese Mini Cards written by Ryan Laughton.
